if you’ve read this far, “thanks”.
thanks for taking the time to see what we’re about. seriously, we’re no better than you. i want to take a minute to write you and let you know “why” and maybe even, “how” we’re doing all this…
FAITH and HOPE.
it’s that simple.
we needed faith, and everyone needs hope.
so a small group of us (7), with a passion to do something (make a movie), got together and found that we really can have the desires of our hearts (live fulfilling lives). we’ve spent a lot of our lives “making money” to “pay the bills” or even, buy “more toys” and maybe even “keep up with the jones” just a little bit. but mostly, we just did what life seemed to dictate.
with no formal education, we decided we were going after what seemed, only a small group of people are able to do: make movies!
so, we called our friends (we do have a couple) and DECIDED to DO IT.
one of us wrote a story based on his own life experiences. others built websites, wrote articles, contacted newspapers and television stations, others filled out forms, others made phone calls and did research, and still others sought out locations and prepared our list of needs, as well as so many other things.
then came the challenge: do we have the FAITH and the DETERMINATION to actually DO the WORK? you see, Will Smith didn’t “just become” a star. he probably works harder than any one of his peers in order to achieve what none of his peers have: Great Success.
that doesn’t mean that’s ALL you need. there’s a proverb that loosely stated says, “a person standing alone can be easily attacked, but two can stand back to back and conquer. three is even better…”
the average person will immediately encounter two problems:
1) getting of your duff.
2) trying to do it alone.
(btw: that applies to ANYTHING)
so, i’ll leave this for today, and come back to write some more in a few days.
c u then.

so it’s been “a few” days since i’ve written. so much has happened, and a lot “hasn’t.
i want to challenge you to the mantra of my high school teacher Mr.Gonzales, who always said, “Keep on, keeping on!”
simple, but deep.
if you are inclined to move the heavens and the earth. to boldly go where no man (or woman) has gone before… then you must, in the words of my friend seth godin, “Become a Heretic!”
now this is NOT a reference to religious standing, but instead, a direct reference to going against the norm. standing apart from the status quo. doing things differently.
now, as you might guess, this isn’t easy. your closest friends will “speculate”. people who are your “elders” that you respect and admire, will tell you that you are doing it all wrong, and that you’re not planting in the right soil. your family, will smile at you (weakly), offer a suggestion or two here or there and wish you the best of luck, but hide their wallets to protect themselves from your “crazy dream”. a few folks will even have enough balls to tell you to get a job! as if you din’t have enough work to do already!
DO NOT GIVE UP!
these well meaning individuals have a common bond: they’ve NEVER done it either, so their fear of failure is projected on you!
STAND STRONG!
one of my favorite bible verses is josh 1.9- (God speaking) “…be strong, and be courageous…”. well said i think.
the “strength here is NOT the incredible hulk kind, but rather the long distance trail runner. the marathon girl. the guys who climb to the top of mt. whitney. it’s endurance. stat.
and the “courage” here is not the “don’t be afraid” kind. it’s healthy i think to have “respectful & humbling” fear from time to time. but rather, courage as defined by dictionary.com “3. have the courage of one’s convictions, to act in accordance with one’s beliefs, esp. in spite of criticism.” or, “do the right thing no matter what” as defined by hector.
if you dare to dream, then dare to FOLLOW IT THROUGH TO COMPLETION! that is TRULY, the key to your success. every successful person, started. so did many failed persons. the successful ones, also completed.
be one!
peace!
h.

Thanks Alyssa!!
Things are going well. We are making great progress (although, not quite as fast as we had hoped). This is all a very huge learning curve for us. No matter though. We wouldn’t be doing anything else right now. Cheers!

Oh so true. The destination is not the show, its the road getting there. My family and I know this from ours. Our last was in a 56 canadian oval std, which is running around the sacramento area. 6 day from Kelowna , BC canada to Santa Maria, Ca Mountains, back roads, farry boats, us customs, alot of sights and being past by bikes on one of the best road trips/family bonding anyone could wish for. Looks to be a well done movie, and will try to pop in on the red carpet. cheer kool1

The trailer looks awesome, we need faith and hope. My wife and I have grown closer since starting the restoration of our VW Bug named “Serenity”. I look forward to seeing the movie, thank you for opening our hearts and giving us the kick in the pants we needed!
GOOD LUCK at Sundance!

Thanks so much for the kind words!!!
The best part about all of this is getting to know new people and seeing them regain hope and step out to pursue their dreams! It’s a real blessing for us.
Best wishes and send me a picture of Serenity if you get a moment. seth@livemediaentertaiment.com
Thanks!

Your trailer looks very cool. It is the journey, not the destination, that means the most.
I have often considered jumping in my bus (74 camper) and leaving the daily grind behind, hopefully in a few years I can do that.
For now I have to settle for the annual vacation (My wife and I drove the bus from Florida to Maine and back the last 2 years) or camping trip.
I am looking forward to seeing your movie, hope it does well. BTW, I heard about it because someone had mentioned it on full moon bus club.

Can I get on a waiting list for the sale of the movie? My husband and I are great VW enthusiasts, right now we have 5, one of which is a ‘78 transporter. We await, not so patiently:-)
